What you need to know

Answers to the questions ✻ you ask yourself before taking the plunge

Are the machines really ready to type?

Yes, without exception. Every machine leaves the workshop fully restored and fitted with a new ribbon. Before it is sent, we test the whole keyboard, the alignment of the typebars and the smoothness of the carriage. Out of the box, you slide in a sheet and type: the machine is ready to write straight away.

How does delivery work?

Your machine travels in a reinforced box, wedged in protective material made from recycled sources. Every parcel is packed by hand to absorb knocks and arrive intact. Delivery is tracked and insured, within mainland France and internationally.

What if I can't work out how to use it?

Nothing to worry about: a typewriter takes only a few minutes to get the hang of. The movement is intuitive and the mechanism speaks for itself. For more unusual models we provide a digital manual to match, and you can reach us directly on WhatsApp with any question. Nobody is left alone in front of their machine.

Is a ribbon included? How do I replace it later?

Yes, a new ribbon is fitted to every machine before it leaves. It lasts a good while — several hundred pages in regular use. When it finally dries out, you can buy another straight from our ribbon shop, compatible with most of the models we sell.

What happens if there is a problem on arrival?

If your machine arrives damaged in transit, or has a fault when you open the box, contact us within 48 hours on WhatsApp or by email, with photos. We always find a solution — repair, exchange or refund, depending on the case. Our promise is that no machine is left as a problem.

The art of writing

Why a vintage typewriter

A vintage typewriter is not a mass-produced object. It is an assembly of mechanical parts designed to last fifty years, sometimes more. Every model has its own touch, its own weight, its own typeface. The Hermes Baby fits in a suitcase. The Olivetti Lettera kept company with Cortázar and Bukowski. The Remington wrote half the American novels of the twentieth century. They are objects to display, and they are writing tools — alive, and they leave their mark on whoever uses them.

Buying a vintage typewriter today calls for a care that we take on for you. A machine found in an attic almost never works: dried-out ribbon, typebars stuck together, seized carriage return. Our craft is to restore these machines by hand, in our French workshop, until they recover their original touch. A few hours for the simple models, several weeks for the complex ones. No machine leaves the workshop without being tested page after page.

We work on all the great manufacturers — Olivetti, Hermes, Brother, Remington, Olympia, Royal — and on rarer models when they cross our path. Whether you are looking for a typewriter to write a novel, to give as a gift, to furnish a desk or simply for the pleasure of writing the old way, you will find here a piece prepared with care and delivered ready to use.
