Royal Quiet DeLuxe typewriter, made in the United States. A legendary model, closely bound up with American literary history and reputed to have been one of Ernest Hemingway’s favourite machines. Launched just before the Second World War, production was suspended when Royal turned its factories over to armaments, before resuming in 1946 to win over a new generation of writers and journalists.

The machine has been fully restored in our workshop: thorough cleaning, degreasing and lubrication of the mechanisms. A new ribbon comes fitted, so it is ready to use the moment it arrives.

Compact, elegant and very pleasant to use, it is in excellent working order. The AZERTY keyboard is soft and pleasant under the fingers, and every mechanism responds perfectly.

Sold with its original carrying case, in fair condition.

It is at once a collector’s piece steeped in history, an excellent writing tool and a superb piece of vintage decor, perfect for a desk or an interior with an American retro style.
