A simply magnificent black Mercedes Superba typewriter. Manufactured in Germany in the 1940s by Mercedes Büromaschinen-Werke A.G. in Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia. An exceptional, rare, and highly sought-after piece that bears witness to pre-war German industrial craftsmanship.

The typewriter has been fully restored in-house: thoroughly cleaned, degreased, and the mechanisms lubricated. A new two-color ribbon (black and red) is included with the typewriter, ready for use upon receipt. Its black casing shines as if it just came off the assembly line—an extremely rare condition for a machine of this age, attesting to the exceptional build quality of the era.
The keystroke is smooth and precise; it writes remarkably well. This model offers a notable feature: it can be used with or without its cover, allowing you to admire the hammers as they move and strike each letter onto the paper—a fascinating mechanical spectacle in its own right.
