Keep your machine clean: proper maintenance extends its service life. Cover it after use. If you are erasing, move the carriage to the side to prevent residue from getting into the mechanism. These simple steps ensure long-lasting, reliable operation.
Clean the characters with a stiff brush. Avoid using anything metal; a sharpened matchstick will suffice. Use a cloth and a little rubbing alcohol if necessary. Remember to cover the keyboard. A special paste or Korès ampoules may also be useful.
The rubber cylinder requires care. Clean it with a soft, slightly damp cloth, adding a little soap if necessary. Rubbing alcohol can remove stains. Gently rotate the cylinder to clean everything. Avoid using abrasive or metallic products.
To remove dust from your machine, use compressed air or an air gun. Be careful with small springs, and take care not to use air that is too compressed. For more precise or delicate cleaning, use a brush with long, fine bristles, making sure that it does not shed bristles during the operation.
Oiling should only be done in exceptional cases. If the hammers or carriage bearings are stiff, apply a drop of light oil such as WD-40 with a soft cloth. Avoid aggressive products and wipe off any excess. Too much oil attracts dust and impairs the machine’s performance.
